The 2020 Strategy outlines CSIRO\u2019s approach to improving Australia\u2019s record in innovation and helping Australia respond to global changes and digital disruption. The vision is to become \u201cAustralia\u2019s innovation Catalyst, boosting Australia\u2019s innovation performance”, whilst creating value for customers through innovation that delivers positive impact for Australia.<\/p>\n

The year innovation master plan was developed through crowd-sourced ideas from more than 7000 creative people. The inputs from these people, from differing fields and backgrounds, helped identify the key challenges, opportunities and emerging trends .<\/p>\n

The organisation\u2019s CEO, Dr Larrry Marshall said, \u201cAt the core of the strategy is the need for CSIRO to be a catalyst for change and growth in the innovation system in Australia. Innovation is a team sport.We must form new bonds and collaborate across disciplines, sectors, science and business. That is where profound innovation happens \u2013 at the intersection of these areas.\u201d<\/p>\n

To achieve this mission CSIRO has developed a set of strategic actions:<\/p>\n

Customer First:<\/strong> CSIRO aims to develop and improve end to end customer experience by embedding a rigorous impact and investment plan and delivering and acting upon market and technology roadmaps.<\/p>\n

Global Outlook:<\/strong> CSIRO aims to deliver connectivity to global science, technology and innovation and access new markets for Australian innovation by accelerating rates of international engagement and collaboration, and prioritise three key regions for sustained presence that align with key impact objectives and sustainable business opportunities.<\/p>\n

Collaboration Hub:<\/strong>\u00a0CSIRO aims to increase contribution to the mobility and exchange of people and know-how between research, industry and government. furthermore, to deepen their partnerships with universities and other research organisations whilst increasing their engagement in education and training from school age to PhD level.<\/p>\n

Breakthrough Innovation:<\/strong> CSIRO aims to increase support for Australian technology start-ups and SME\u2019s and support, develop and incentivise people to take commercial and scientific risk to create a world class digital innovation capability for Australia.<\/p>\n
